Work from home, 1 year anniversary

Yesterday I received a tulip bouquet from my company thanking for 1 year working from home (WFH). It indeed changed drastically way of working for me, my colleagues, and many percentage of the workers. For me, it was from 1 day WFH to full time WFH, it was expected till May 2020, then September 2020, and summer 2021. Now I've already not checking when to go back to the office anymore. Before, I've always said, I couldn't become a Freelancer because I couldn't work full time at home -- this pandemic proves that I was wrong. I adapted to it (with up and down of course). So this is the sum-up of my (unbelievable) 1 year WFH. Tulip from the company and the boy Work place: I first worked in the middle of living room where I usually worked on Friday. Then felt uncomfortable and moved to bedroom - working on a small table and kitchen chair. My back didn't feel well, then moved back to the bright corner of the living room, where I used J. big table (and he moved to my cat...

i tried Rollerblade outdoor

In my first summer in Utrecht i was so amazed to see many people skating in a group at the center of Utrecht. The group with loud music really brought the vibe to the city, and I was like, one day I wish I could be doing the same :) Until 2 weeks ago I got the roller blade from my man for me achieving the AWS certificate SAA. Haha I was very excited, yet nervous as I couldn't stand when I tried it on at the shop >"<. Me and J. - the coach, practised indoor as I the protection didn't arrive yet... Until yesterday..... So today, my first rolling outside started in the evening - which was delayed for several minutes, because it suddenly rained before we got out (yeah, right on time). It was completely different from rollerblade indoor. I chose the playground behind the building and it was completely stiff, the blade barely rolled unless you walked it :D. Time for adventure, I moved to the alley and the pavement where its smoother and managed to make several rounds aroun...

Tuesday is the new Friday

Last night J. suddenly mentioned his colleagues made Ceviche in the weekend. What, I was very surprised, looks so difficult to do. J. was like, " I want to make it, but if I do, I will also make Pisco sour , just to make them jealous :P". Sure thing, right on time, because we were already planning to go to the Tuesday open air market close to my house, where they sell very fresh fish and seafood. So Ceviche is one of the most popular Peruvian dishes, where raw fish is soaked in sour juice (lime juice, grapefruit...) and that sour thingy basically cooks the raw fish :). And Pisco sour is a very famous drink in Peru as well (in fact, both Peru and Chile claimed that it's " their" traditional drink - I heard so when I was in Chile:D ), where alcohol Pisco (like 45oC) is mixed with white egg & sweet & lime. We really liked both when we were in Peru. One can find them almost everywher: on the street, in restaurants (even though J. had a stomach problem THE...

scp & IAM policy - some thought

I have been working with SCP (security control policies) for a while and still don't like the interface saying explicit deny. Most of the time you can easily trace back to where the deny statement lies, but not always the case (sad..) Today, for example, it took me a while to do so with Aurora. In the SCP of the organization, the only statement related to RDS states that, it will deny create database instance (CreateDBInstance) if the rds storage is not encrypted. Easy so far right? I clicked on create database and choose Aurora. Even though choosing all kinda " encrypted storage" instance types (r, m, t3) --note free t2.micro instance is not encrypted storage -- I couldn't create the database with explicit deny--what the hell is going on..... (making guess, looking at CloudTrail really helped) AND the answer is: Once clicking on creating a database, other database types (PostgreSQL...) will create an encrypted instance (if one chooses) - scp working fine. Howeve...

Birds of the world

Seeing many birds around but i didn't know the names. However, recently I was gifted <3 the book " Collin Birds guide" about birds of Europe . This develops more the curiosity and enthusiasm around knowing more of the birds, at least some basic information. So far i really like the book: very informative with precise pictures to recorgnize them. I love how they describe the sound of the bird as well. Putting down here the birds I found to remember myself about them :). I would love to have birds freely live in my garden, but I guess my cat also loves it in a different way :D...So let's leave it for now. Date How I found and their names 02/04/2021 Oystercachers Saw several of them on Texel island, De Koog beach . They have a bit mixed of black and white in their necks. It was very wide and windy and cold beach, but they didn't really care, they were still searching for food. It's said that their main food are oysters, mussels...(such luxurious for us :D ) Ri...

My gardening today

Apparently having a Friday off is such a relaxing feeling. My breakfast with coffee and cereal soon boosted energy for getting out to my small 2meters garden. Yesterday it was very stormy (wind 65km/h) that messed my greenhouses. Turned out more things to do than i thought. I ended up spending 2 good hours folding greenhouses, mixed the soils in the garden, fertilized for the roses and Camelia, put some vegetables plant out. Have myself planted today: Squash Courgettes Cucumbers Dills Cherry tomatoes Well, once done, it started raining a bit, ANDDD, windy a lot...Don't know if its a good idea to put these veggies outside today...So, this is the result of today :)
