Life on the water

It was a spontaneous decision to go for canoeing 🛶. Saturday evening booked, Sunday afternoon go.  We started 4.30pm and came back at 6.45pm, just before the storm started. What a relief. This was a new route that we took, to go more to the nature areas of Amelisweg rather than to the center of Utrecht. We therefore really had amazing time watching nature moving on the water. Plus because people wanted to go home sooner, either to avoid the upcoming storm or to watch Netherlands playing at Europe cup at 6pm (which they turned out lost 0-2), we really had a quiet time canoeing without giving ways to others. The water was calm from outside but when you were in, it’s so lively society.  At one part, A mother duck with her kids crossed the river calmly despite of canoeing on their way. At another part, some others were sitting on the long hedge looking at boats passing by. We even saw a grey heron took a fish from the river to his mouth. For the first time I saw a coots nes...

Don’t judge the book by its cover

My cat is becoming ”famous” unnecessary.  Nam has his eyes operations 3times, plus his furry fur made him an unique look. Boy also likes to troll around the neighbourhood (as all cats do). I’m very happy that he could do so but didn’t know that his look attracted quite some attention. He unintentionally became well known in my building. Story 1: My favourite neighbour who took care of Nam once mentioned: people seeing Nam outside and looked like they are very pity for him because of his eyes. I was laughing, oh he is fine. Story 2: one nice Sunday morning while Nam was outside and we were about to have breakfast, the doorbell rang. We didn’t expect any packages, would that be from a neighbour? Hmmm. Once the door opens, 2 ladies introducing them as they are from “animal ambulance” and asked if the furry cat is ours. (Nam, out of curiosity seeing someone at the door,  also ran home sniffing the ladies’ bag). I was so surprised. The lady explained that they got a call men...

Piercing on my birthday

Haha so I wanted to do piercing on my upper ear part from long time ago, but haven’t got time and always like lazy, oh I should book. Then COVID time didn’t make it easier as I have reason to postpone. Yet today, on my birthday, I finally just made the appointment for the afternoon and NOW I have a Helix piercing on my right ear corner! 💝.  Surprisingly I was not afraid but excited. The piercer was so nice and talk active, which really helped. He even got me a small discount because of the noise around his shop. I had to fill in a form to check if I have any allergies or chronicle disease close to the area of piercing, and some more confirmations to make sure I’m okay for this. That’s required I guess. I asked if it’s painful and the piercer said for women it’s nothing haha…The piercer put some alcohol to clean area and put several dot markers for me to choose the place for the new hole. And it’s time 🤪 it’s just like half a second he put the needle in and out but it’s sup...
